GETTY, William James (Bill) - September 28, 1923 - January 18, 2021
Bill Getty, of Ancaster, Ontario (formerly of Benvarden, Northern Ireland), passed away peacefully at Juravinski Hospital, Hamilton, on January 18, 2021, after a short illness.
Much loved husband of Mary.
Sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends. Predeceased by his brothers John and Bertie and sisters Maude, Molly, Margaret and Francis, and grieved by many nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews from Northern Ireland, and members of Mary's family in England.
Bill was the last of the "townland of Benvarden" Gettys.
Bill and Mary were married in 1974 and lived in Toronto where they had met and worked together at CIL. After their retirement, they moved to Ancaster in 2000.
The two of them enjoyed spending some of the winter months in Florida, Bill choosing to drive there each year. He loved his golf, playing well into his 90's. He had a great sense of humour and could charm anyone.
Bill had a modest way about him - and always a kind word to go with his wonderful smile.
Bill has been cremated with plans for a memorial service yet to be determined.
