WEISIG, Erna (nee ELGNER)    - May 5, 1930 - February 26, 2021

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Erna.

Born in the small village of Chrises in the former Czechoslovakia, Erna was resettled in Germany during WWII where she met the love of her life, Hubert.

She came to Canada by herself at the age of 23, then sponsored Hubert and later her brother Ben and family, and their mother, to join her. Erna owned and operated her own hairdressing business on Bayview Avenue in Leaside.

She, Hubert and their daughter owned a house in Cabbagetown, then moved to Don Mills, and eventually built their dream home north of Stouffville.

During this time they also built a cottage in the Kawarthas which was much enjoyed by the many friends and family they entertained from across Canada and Germany.

Erna and Hubert enjoyed travelling and visited many European countries, as well as the Canadian provinces, Cuba and Florida. Erna enjoyed gardening and her gardens were her pride and joy. She loved to bake and family and friends loved to partake.

She will be missed by her friends, many relatives across Canada and in "the old country", as well as her daughter Ingrid (John), grandchildren Erika (Jeff), Paul (Rachel), Evelyn (Niall), and great-grandchildren Malakai, Jackson, Henry, Hugh, and Grace.

Our sincere thanks to the staff at Douglas Crossing in Uxbridge who were wonderful at making her comfortable in the last two years.

She will be greatly missed.
