CHIANG, Donald Tze Sen   - October 7, 1946 - May 9, 2021

Born October 7, 1946 in Yizheng County, Jiangsu Province, China.

Passed away suddenly in Toronto on May 9, 2021, surrounded by family, due to complications from acute pancreatitis.

He leaves his wife Laura Wen, son Lucas (Iulia) and daughter Joyce (David), and beloved grandchildren Mia and Sebastian.

He was predeceased by his first wife Frances. Energetic, optimistic and enterprising.

Donald had an amazing personality that would fill any room. He loved music – often whipping out a harmonica and occasionally, the accordion. He was an expert at mahjong and a master at bridge.

An avid reader with natural curiosity and a willingness to learn, he studied philosophy at Fu Jen Catholic University in Taiwan and then in West Germany.

In 1972, he moved to Canada where he continued studies at McMaster University in philosophy and religion as well as a specialization in computer programming.

Donald married Frances Fungyi Lee in 1974. Frances shared the joy of music with Donald, and the whole family performed at community events.

After Frances' death in 1994, Donald took on the roles of both father and mother, lovingly raising his children. He delighted in watching them grow into adults, though he wasn't shy about sharing his opinions and advice, yet still allowed them to chart their own paths. In retirement, Donald was fortunate to meet Laura.

They married in 2011, supporting and encouraging each other, participating in their church and travelling the world.

A private funeral service will be held on Monday, May 17. A celebration of life will be arranged for a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Daily Bread Food Bank or Scarborough Health Network Foundation would be appreciated.
