ROCCASALVA, Gaetano - Returned to his heavenly home on Thursday June 24, 2021 after a valiant battle in hospital.
Geatano passed peacefully at the age of 95 into the presence of God at 1:15pm at Michael Garron Hospital surrounded by loved ones.
His devotion to his family, his love and compassion and his strength supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace during his final hours.
Gaetano was born on February 2, 1926 in Ispica, Sicily, Italy and is survived by his beloved daughters Rose (Mario) and Gina (Brian) and his loving grandchildren Lorenzo (Alyssa), Giancarlo (Leandra), Marissa and Nathan.
We find solace knowing that Gaetano has now been reunited with his adoring wife (Maria) and precious daughter (Connie) and that our family has now gained another guardian angel.
Gaetano worked as a Policeman in Milan, Italy for a short time in his early years. Upon immigrating to Canada in the hope of providing his family with a better life, Gaetano worked effortlessly to ensure that his wife and daughters were given a myriad of opportunities.
Gaetano was known as a kind, dedicated and hardworking person, and while he was a man of few words his loving actions towards his family, friends and neighbours will forever be cherished. His passion for walking and gardening, his infectious laugh, his graciousness and his love of the outdoors will forever be ingrained in our memories.
Due to Covid-19 only immediate family members will be received at Heritage Funeral Centre, Toronto on Monday June 28th at 12:00pm.
