Kroupis ChristosKROUPIS, Christos - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, brother, and grandfather Christos Kroupis on Tuesday September 21, 2021.

Christos was born in Volos, Greece on December 23, 1931. He was known to all that loved him as Pappou, or Theo Christos.

Christos is survived by his daughters Joanne (Spiros), Kathy, his sisters Alkmini and Anna, and grandchildren Georgia, Eleftheria, Ethan, Sophie and Christina.

Christos led a passionate life.

At 10 years old he ran barefoot for what is a 20 min drive to get oranges for his family.

Only to be shot at by German soldiers. To save himself, he hid in dense reeds until nightfall and made his way back home in the dark. Unfortunately, he lost the oranges in the process. At 16 years of age, he saved two young children from drowning in the ocean. June of 1961 brought happier times, as he married his love and soulmate Georgia. Together they had two daughters Joanne and Kathy.

Christos was a very kind and gentle man. He gave his time generously to the Greek Community of Toronto as a volunteer in The Volos and Perihoron Association and later to the Thessalon Federation of Toronto.

After a courageous battle with cancer, Christos passed away peacefully with his daughter Joanne and son-in-law Spiros by his side.

Beloved father, brother, grandfather and theo, may God give rest to your soul. We love you, we miss you. Today and always.

Visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Centre, Toronto on Sunday, September 26, 2021.  The service will take place at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 30 Thorncliffe Park Dr., toronto on Monday, September 27, 2021 at 10:00AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church would be appreciated by the family.
