Jowahir SharonJOWAHIR, Sharon Ann   -  Sharon Ann Jowahir died quietly and peacefully at her home on September 16, 2021 with loving and caring family beside her.

She leaves her sisters Kasslyn and Rayana, brother Peter; niece Amy (Mike); nephews Zachary (Krystle) and Liam (Monica); great-nephews Isaiah and Jerome, and an extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents Desmond and Yvonne Jowahir.

Born in Georgetown, Guyana on June 23, 1959, Sharon fondly recalled her early years spent with her grandparents, aunts and uncles.

She always felt grounded by the values she learned from the broader community there.

Her family immigrated to Canada on July 1, 1967 and this date was always significant for her when she celebrated Canada Day.

As a teenager, her love of swimming prompted her to volunteer for a mom and tots swimming program.

As an adult, she acted on her empathy for refugees and disadvantaged families by teaching English as a second language, and volunteering with Woodgreen Community Services where she earned a 15-year service award in 2021. Her legacy will be the things she did for others voluntarily, and the stories they will share about her.

She will be remembered lovingly by her family and friends to whom she was a niece, cousin, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was thankful to everyone for their love, support and acceptance.

Thanks to staff at Princess Margaret Hospital, Bridgepoint Hospital, and Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care for their caring and compassionate attention to Sharon.

Thanks also to family members, friends, and residents at Winona Housing Co-Op who supported Sharon during her illness.

Memorial donations in honour of Sharon Jowahir may be made to Woodgreen Community Services at woodgreen.org/ foundation/donate

At Sharon's request, there will be no funeral.
