Kosta NicolasKOSTA, Nicolas - (1932 - 2021) - On September 23, 2021 our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, was called to Heaven to be in God's care.

For weeks, he was seeing his son that was taken from him far too early, almost 5 years ago. His last act on this earth was to open his eyes and reach out to him.

Nicolas was born on the island of Chios Greece on February 13, 1932. He loved the island and served in the Navy protecting that which he loved. He came to Canada to build a new life in 1957 and went back home on vacation to visit his family. As luck would have it, he met and fell instantly in love, with the love of his life, Rosie. Together for 57 years. Together they welcomed two children and 5 grandchildren. He was not only Dad and Pappou, he was a friend, uncle and soulmate.

Nicolas started his own business and built his career around the love for his family. Taking care of them and making sure they had everything for generations to come was his goal. He instilled a strong work ethic in his children and worked as a partner with Rosie to accomplish great things. When he wasn't working, he was often found in his orchard in Greece eating fruit and having a good swim in the Sea, or sitting in his garden in Canada having Tea with his love.

Nicolas loved his children, George and Mary and supported them to achieve excellent educations and he worked to see them settled and successful. There was nothing he did not help with. He lived for them. He found a new calling when he became Pappou to 5 beautiful boys. He picked them up from school and was regularly convinced by them that McDonald's was a healthy meal choice. He would turn up his car radio (after they showed him the cool stations) and would often be found in line to pick up at school singing some very hip tunes. He would drop by to bring food and to make sure everyone had their favourite fruits.

He supported the boys from birth and would constantly go out of his way for his family. When one grandson was in the NICU for months after his birth he would visit and cook for all the moms, to make sure they were strong to help see their babies well and to make sure his grandson was taken care of and given the best chance to survive a rough start. He would always contribute any way he could to make everyone's day just that little bit better.

He had an infectious laugh and dry sense of humour that will leave us with stories to share and warm our hearts for a lifetime. He touched many lives and left them better for having been in them.

Nicolas loved life and did not want to leave those he loved. He fought hard and stood up against very tough odds to live with lung cancer for two years. He lived those two years well. In the end, he was tired, yet still he fought. In the last few weeks he said goodbye slowly to us all. When he couldn't speak he would kiss our hands, when he couldn't eat, he would save his food for us. When he couldn't walk he never complained and when our priest came to visit, he met him with a grateful heart for the blessing he gave him just before he left us.

In the end, he knew it was almost time and he looked to his late son and his late mother to take him home with them, where he will wait for us until we are all together again.

We love you honey, dad, and pappou. We miss you already, but we keep you in our hearts where you have kept us warm our entire lives. The sun in Chios is a little less brilliant today, the grapes a little less sweet and the oranges a little less vibrant in colour. Rest now and know you are loved, and missed. We know you are looking down on us - don't worry, be happy, better days ahead.

Over to you George, take care of him like he always took care of us.

Arrangements are entrusted with Scott funeral home, Mississauga chapel.
