KHALIL, Laila George (nee Nashed) - “…Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a little, I will set you over much; enter into the joy of your Master.” Matthew 25:23
Laila Khalil (nee Nashed) was called Home by our Lord on Wednesday October 6, 2021, in the morning, due to complications after a brief illness, in her 73rd year.
She was wife to Edward for close to 18 years before his passing in 1992. Loving mother to Shirley and Andrew. Godmother to Michael. Aunt and Spiritual Mother to many. Cherished sister of Nashaat, Rashad, Shady, and Sheren (deceased).
Laila served anyone who needed her, with an open heart, a smile on her face, and great faith in God’s calling for her. She helped raise over 40 children in her 23 years as a home day care provider. She happily served her parishes, contributing her many gifts and talents in baking, beading, and making palm crosses, to Holy Family Coptic Catholic Church and St. Philip the Apostle Parish.
Special thanks to the staff, nurses, and Dr. Joanne Yu at North York General Hospital for their compassionate care over the past 5 months, and the relationships that were built over that time.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Canadian Hearts and Hands: A Mission Without Borders would be appreciated by the family.
Arrangements and livestream funeral details are entrusted with Paul O’Connor Funeral Home.
