PORTER, Jean (nee MORRIS) - September 3, 1933 – November 7, 2021
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother, Jean Porter nee Morris on Sunday, November 7, 2021.
She left this world peacefully at home with family by her side. Loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, nana.
She will live on through her daughters Dr. Janit Porter (Cameron Hastings) and Susan Northey (Hugh Northey).
Adoring Nana to Logan and Grayden Northey and Nanabanana to Daniel and Noah Hastings.
Predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years Graham Frederick Porter.
Born in South Wales, she immigrated to Canada in 1956.
A long-time teacher in Toronto, she enriched the lives of the many youth she taught.
A feminist before its time. A fiercely independent, creative woman who marched to her own drum, always.
We will forever imagine her cooking a Sunday roast, completing crosswords, puttering in her garden, enjoying a classic science fiction book or movie, writing a long letter to a faraway friend, sipping a coffee or rum and coke in her carport, attending a live performance and guiding her grandchildren through life.
A cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
