It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Lydia Bustamante on December 8, 2021 at the age of 81.
Dear sister, predeceased by her siblings Paciencia, Rosalina, Eliseo, Esing, and Celerina.
Loving mother to Jennifer (Richard), Lola to Mia and Lauren, and Tita to many nieces and nephews.
Lydia was born in Manila, Philippines, moving to North America after graduating from St. Luke’s College of Nursing as a registered nurse, first living in the US and then settling in Canada.
She spent many years at Doctor’s Hospital in Toronto and after returning to college to pursue a degree in Gerontology from Ryerson, finished her career as the Director of Care at Harold and Grace Baker Centre.
Lydia was always on the go and was an active member of many volunteer groups through her church, St. Luke’s Parish (Thornhill) and in her community.
She was exceedingly generous and kind, and her strong Catholic faith guided her throughout her lifetime.
Visitation will be held at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, Markham, ON, on Tuesday December 14, 2021 from 6:00 – 9:00pm. Funeral Service will take place at St. Luke’s Parish, 39 Green Lane, Thornhill, ON, on Wednesday December 15, 2021 11:00 a.m. Capacity is limited so please reach out to the family if you are interested in attending.
