HYNES, James Gordon  -

July 7, 1940 - June 6, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we share with you the passing of Jim Hynes in his 83rd year.

Beloved husband to Carol Lynne for 59 years; father to Patrick (Jill) and Rob (Andrea) and proud grandad to Maxwell, Charlotte and Benjamin.

Jim is survived by two sisters, Kay (John Palkhivala) and Eleanor; and brother, Grant (Barb).

Jim was born and raised in Montréal before a move to Toronto in 1972.

Though he spent fifty years in the city, he remained a Montréaler at heart, often sarcastically talking about 'Toronto the Good' and staunchly supporting his Canadiens and Alouettes.

He did, however, grow very fond of Toronto's High Park, which he lived next to for many years, and spent countless hours riding his bicycle in the summer and skating on Grenadier Pond in the winter.

A writer by trade, Jim had a passion for music, playing the piano and recorder; loved sailing, which he had done since childhood; enjoyed a good single malt Scotch; and was a skilled artist, but it was his family, above all, that brought him joy and happiness.

The family will be holding a Celebration of Life at a later date.
