EAKINS, Dorothy Mary Jane (nee VERRALL)  -

October 18, 1931 - April 2, 2023

Today, a private Committal Service will be held to celebrate the life of Dorothy.

Born October 18, 1931, Dorothy died peacefully, and on her terms, on April 2, 2023, at age 91.

Devoted wife of the late William (Bill) Eakins, loving mother to Robert Eakins (Dianna), and proud grandmother to Nicholas and Lauren (Eakins).

Predeceased by parents, Harry and Maude Verrall (Coath); and siblings, Margaret (Pearce), Audrey (Thomson), Kenneth and Harry (Bud). Survived by sister-in-law, Betty Verrall.

Dorothy will be remembered for her unwavering love and loyalty to many family/relatives, friends, neighbours, employers, and fur babies.

Dorothy chose her final departure date (Palm Sunday). Until then, she lived life to her fullest, visiting the Butterfly Conservatory, the Brant Street Pier, the Burlington Performing Art Centre (Nutcracker), and the Christmas Gift of Lights.

Today is also the 54th wedding anniversary of Dorothy and Bill, married in 1969 at St. Olave's Church (Toronto). After five years apart, they will reunite on a dance floor of clouds as they listen to their favourite big band tunes. Bill will play the saxophone, guitar and piano as Dorothy sings (or hums) along.

To honour the lives and love of Dorothy and Bill, 54 hot meals have been donated to both the Scott Mission and to St. Olave's Meals for Seniors. These dinners symbolize their constant goodness, compassion, loyalty, comfort, sharing, caring and support for others.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to a health or animal agency (of your choice), or to The Royal Canadian Legion's "Poppy Campaign" (October 27 to November 11, 2023) would be appreciated.
