Wiegand ElauneWIEGAND (HUNT), Elayne  -  On December 15, 2023, in her 90th year, Elayne passed away at her home at Christie Gardens.

Elayne was predeceased by her husband, Philip; and her sister, Marilyn; and her daughter-in-law, Gail (Derek).

She will be greatly missed by her dear sons, Michael and Derek; her brother, Allan (Yvonne); and her grandchildren, Steve (Mathilde), Jill (Kehl), Billy (Sravya), Ellen; and her four great-granddaughters, (Evelyn, Emily, Eloise and Margaux).

Elayne was born to Alice and Eddie Hunt in Ottawa where she became a dental nurse for five years before meeting Philip at Crawley Films in 1952.

They married in 1959, and moved to live in Toronto. In Toronto, she worked at Howard and Mountview schools and spent many decades doing volunteer work.

But next to her love of family she delighted in travelling and she and Philip were grateful to have seen much of the world. Elayne and Philip were longtime members of First Unitarian Congregation of Toronto.

There will be a private family funeral at St. Jacob's Cemetery where Elayne will be interred with her husband Philip, and next to his ancestors.

Thanks to the staff, wellness centre and Dr. Kopplin at Christie Gardens for their tender care.
