YOUNG, Elizabeth Moir Gartshore - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elizabeth Moir Gartshore Young on Thursday November 23, 2023, in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Born in Toronto in 1929, she was predeceased by brother, John Gartshore; and husband, Ivan L. Young.
She leaves behind her dearly loved children, Mary Young and Andrew Young; and granddaughters, Alison Young and Shona Young.
She attended Havergal College, Branksome Hall and The MacDonald Institute (a founding department of the University of Guelph) before marrying and moving to Scotland in 1952. Known to most as 'Liz', she was both practical and pragmatic with a wonderful sense of humour and a love of the outdoors.
She enjoyed swimming, canoeing, golfing, badminton, woodworking, volunteer work and was an excellent shot with an arrow! At home, she was an accomplished seamstress, phenomenal knitter, and amazing cook.
Liz was shy but possessed a grace and intelligence that allowed her to build many friendships in her adopted country.
Her accomplishments were significant, and her death has left a gap in the lives of many.
Her funeral service has taken place in Edinburgh.
