Howe JamesHOWE, James "Jamie" Gregory  -

February 9, 1949 - April 26, 2024

After a courageous battle of 13 years with cancer, Jamie (James) has sadly passed away.

He leaves behind his loving, devoted wife, Wendy; and sons, Alan and Christopher; as well as a family consisting of daughter, Erin; and three grandchildren (Tyler, Rachel and Jessica); brothers, Lawrie (Laureen) and Jeremy (Becky and Evelyn); sister, Kass (Paul); nephew, Jeffrey (Sahar); and niece, Jennifer (Terry and Lily).

Jamie's career began as a Buyer at Canadian Tire Corporation, which eventually led to multiple marketing roles within A&W Agency.

As his career evolved, he found his passion as a professional fundraiser across various charitable organizations, such as The Alzheimer Society of Canada, The Arthritis Society and Canadian Cancer Society. This passion as a fundraiser culminated as the role of Director of Direct Marketing for Prostate Cancer Canada, where he concluded a successful and rewarding career prior to his retirement in March of 2019.

His contributions to the fundraising community and the lives that he touched throughout his career, will be forever felt with gratitude.

As a proud Torontonian, his dedication to Toronto sports and devotion to the Maple Leafs, Raptors, Argos, TFC, and Marlies (to name a few), was unmatched and will always inspire us.

Jamie was a kind and caring soul and will be missed by all of those who knew him. Jamie had been under the care of a team of tireless hematologists and caring nursing staff at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

A very special thanks to Dr. Spaner, who walked every step of this long journey with him, and Dr. Asa, for their dedication and compassionate work.

He is also grateful to Collingwood General and Marine Hospital and Royal Victoria Hospital, for their assistance along his journey.

Funeral/Celebration of Life will be held May 11, 2024, Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, 8911 Woodbine Ave., from 1-4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make donations in Jamie's name are recommended to do so to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC) or Sunnybrook Foundation.
