Cuthbert SylviaCUTHBERT, Sylvia (nee RENTON)  - Born 78 years ago in Burley-in-Wharfedale, West Yorks, England.

Longtime resident of Oakville and recently Aurora.

Sylvia passed peacefully on April 25, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Arthur in 2013, they were married for 57 years and set a wonderful example for their daughters and their husbands.

Julie and Mike Sifton of Aurora and Cheryl and Stewart Manchester of St. Albans, Vermont.

Lovingly remembered Granny of Torie and Ali Sifton and their husbands Ioan Shrimpton and Leo Narynskyyi, Evelyn Sifton, Hailey and Jorge Calder, Caitlin and Ben Schultz-Figueroa, David and Lindsay Manchester and Christopher Manchester. Doting Great-Gran of Maya, Calvin, Aurora and Cora.

Sylvia and Arthur immigrated to Canada in 1966 settling in Oakville where Syl spent her exemplary nursing career at OTMH.

In her spare time she was a valued member of the Oakville Players, a devoted Formula One fan (Go Lewis Go), an admirable gardener and a prolific knitter.

Upon retirement she volunteered at the Oakville Seniors Centre until Arthur's illness demanded all of her time.

Moving in 2012 to be closer to family led Syl to the Aurora Seniors Centre where she discovered Square Dancing, Line Dancing, Hiking, a passion for Mahjong and many new friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Rana, Dr. Cho and Dr. Yuen at Stronach Regional Cancer Centre and Dr Bedard and staff at PMH for trying their best. Also many many thanks to the amazing staff and volunteers at the The Margaret Bahen Hospice in Newmarket for the exceptional end-of-life care.

A private family service will take place this summer.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to The Margaret Bahen Hospice or the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre at Southlake.
