McNicol BarbaraMcNICOL, Barbara Isabel (nee BEAMISH)  - Barbara passed peacefully in comfort while enveloped in the love of her family at her home in Amica at Unionville on Saturday, April 21, 2018.

She was Donald's cherished wife and life partner for 65 years.

Barbara, daughter of the late Lyle and Isabel Beamish, spent her formative years and early adult life in Ottawa.

Throughout her 87 years, she cherished her friendships from childhood through to Endicott College near Boston and then at her homes in Hudson, Nepean, Tokyo and Markham.

Loving wife of Donald (Don) McNicol, sister of the late Jack (Jean) Beamish, dear mother of Rob (Denise), Graham (Tomoko) and Pam Caswell (Wayne), sweet grandmother of Rina, Mia, Jenna, Braedon, Lori (Michael) and Dana (Matt).

Kind and always considerate of others, Barbara loved socializing with friends, laughing and being with family. To the care and nursing staff at Amica in Unionville: You are awesome and we are so grateful for your kindness and the love you afforded Barbara these past 4 years.

The family also thanks Dr. Andrew Patterson and the nurses of the Markham-Stouffville Palliative Care team for providing gentle comfort.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated.

A private family service will take place on Sunday, April 29, 2018. Visitation will follow from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Chapel Ridge Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 8911 Woodbine Ave. in Markham.
