POCILUYKO, Jeanette (nee MAKDATOR)  - August 21, 1931 - June 5, 2018

Passed away at Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton, age 86, from complications after a recent falling injury.

Predeceased by her devoted husband Alexander and daughter Valerie.

Jeanette will be missed by her remaining children Glenn (Gwyn) of Penticton, BC, Lance McDayter (Juanita Dickson) of Etobicoke, Ontario and Karen Joyce (Tom) of Rocky View County, Alberta.

Jeanette leaves a further legacy of 4 remarkable grandchildren - Camille, Michelle, Amanda and Mason, who are sad to lose their "Baba". She will be dearly missed by her younger brother Walt McDayter and his wife Berenice of Scarborough, Ontario, as well as her nephew Mark and her nieces Ghislaine and Michelle.

Jeanette also leaves behind her heartbroken best friend and steadfast companion of many years, Patrick Purcell. Born to Nicholas and Mary in Saskatoon, Jeanette lived most of her life in the Toronto area.

In her prime, in addition to marrying and raising her family, she found great joy in gardening and creating crafts and baking for family and friends, and in her Ukrainian Catholic church in Thornhill, where she was an active member of its Women's League and choir.

She was a founder of the church seniors group and later very active in the North York Seniors Centre.

Jeanette will be very fondly remembered for imbuing her own love of music, animals and her Ukrainian cultural heritage within her children.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018 from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge St.).  A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Volodymyr the Great Ukrainian Catholic Church (15 Church Lane, Thornhill).
