PLATT, Thelma A. Alice (nee Bain) - of Victoria Place in Bobcaygeon, passed away peacefully, on September 17, 2021, at her beloved home of 40 years, with her son by her side.
Thelma was born on July 12, 1923 in Canning, Nova Scotia, to Harry and Kate Bain (nee Windsor).
Thelma received her Victoria Order of nursing degree from Women's College Hospital in the mid-1940's and practiced as a registered nurse in Toronto and Mississauga.
On July 15, 1949, Thelma married John Cleveland Platt of Toronto. They raised two daughters, Diane and Nancy, and one son, Wayne. They lived in Mississauga for 20 years before relocating to Bobcaygeon for retirement.
Thelma enjoyed learning and challenging herself.

BRANDT, Margret (nee GREWE) - 1930 - 2021 Margret, loving mother of Gord Brandt (Andrea) and Christine Barnes (Kerry), a most wonderful Oma to Allana, Colin, Dakota, and Sierra, passed away peacefully in her home, on September 17, 2021.
She leaves behind her twin sister Ruth (in Germany) and was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Ulrich Brandt (in 2017).
She grew up in a loving family (including two sets of twins) and came as a young bride to Canada in 1955.
She and Ulrich lived the Canadian dream - family, friends, travels, enjoying their life and grateful for all that they had.
Margret was a gentle soul who was kind to everyone around her. She is now at peace.

THOMSON, Dorothy Florence (McKay) - September 16, 1926 - September 17, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce that at age 95 our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed peacefully at Extendicare Port Hope on Friday, September 17, 2021.
Dorothy was born and raised in Toronto where she met her husband Jim.
They were married on October 22, 1949 and celebrated 70 wonderful years together.
They lived in Scarborough for 40 years while raising their two children Debbie and Fred.

MAY, John (Jack) Wesley - 1928 - 2021 In his 92nd year, with the full moon lighting the way, and surrounded by the love and care of those closest to him, Jack made his way peacefully from home into the next world on September 17, 2021.
Jack was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Gwen (Mason) May, his beloved wife, Jean Chester May (2011), sister, Leona Ferguson (2016) and brother and business partner, Bob May (2021).

BELL, Betty Stuart - It is with profound sadness that we share that Betty passed away peacefully on Friday, September 17, 2021 at home with her loving son Allan by her side.
Predeceased by her beloved husband John and her precious daughter Lesley.
Survived by loving sisters-in-law Ivy Brown, and Anne and Betty Grogan.
When Betty emigrated from England she made Canada her home by making a difference. Her tireless devotion to the community she loved earned her the “Mayor’s Seniors Hall of Fame Award” and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.
Betty enjoyed life, always cherished her family, and was grateful for her treasured circle of friends.

KNIGHT, David A. - Beloved partner to Teri Fuzessi, son, brother, uncle, great uncle, friend and dog guardian passed away Friday September 17, 2021 surrounded by love after a rapid journey through cancer.
Eldest of a rambunctious gang of six siblings David led the way through misadventures in local woods, on annual camping trips, and everyday undertakings.
Studies in computing lead to a career as a freelance Systems Analyst and later as a Senior Analyst at Rogers for 17 years.

MACMURCHY, Charles "Charlie" Harvey - Passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021 at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital at the age of 81.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife Marlene MacMurchy (Huxley), son Brian MacMurchy (with wife Sarah), daughter Kelly Garrett, brother Robert MacMurchy (with wife Carol).

BINNI, Gina - With a heavy heart we announce the passing of Gina Binni on September 16th, 2021, at the age of 90 in Bolton, Ontario.
Born in Silvi Paese, Teramo on May 11, 1931. Gina was one of the strongest, kindest and loving individuals. She loved to have fun, always smiling, telling funny stories, and loved chatting with people.
She married her longtime friend and love of her life, Leone Binni, who preceded her death in 2007.

SWEENEY, David Ross - David Ross Sweeney, three-time Canadian Olympic Tornado Sailor, passed away September 16, 2021, after a brief illness with cancer, at age 61.
He sailed in the 1984, 1988, and 1992 Olympic Games.
David was in medal contention at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, but his boat broke down during the last race, leaving him in 5th place.
David spent many summers on Stoney Lake, where he developed his passion for sailing.
He and his brother Brian won CORK in 1983, 1984.
They placed 7th at the Tornado Worlds in Sydney, Australia in 1984.
David grew up in North York, and graduated from Queen's University in 1983.

MINIALOFF, Patti - Our beautiful Patti passed away peacefully, after a courageous battle with breast cancer, on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at Mount Sinai Hospital, at the age of 61.
Patti was the loving wife of Stephen King and so very proud of her children Matt and Zoe.
Devoted daughter of Joseph and the late Sylvia.
Sister of Robert (Julie), predeceased by her sister Debbie (Mike), survived by loving sister Kathy (Bernie).
Patti loved education and attended many schools; The Ontario Ladies College, Canadian Junior College at both Lausanne, Switzerland and Carriacou Island in Grenada; the University of San Diego, Carleton University, and graduated from the University of Toronto in Art History and Religion.

JOWAHIR, Sharon Ann - Sharon Ann Jowahir died quietly and peacefully at her home on September 16, 2021 with loving and caring family beside her.
She leaves her sisters Kasslyn and Rayana, brother Peter; niece Amy (Mike); nephews Zachary (Krystle) and Liam (Monica); great-nephews Isaiah and Jerome, and an extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents Desmond and Yvonne Jowahir.
Born in Georgetown, Guyana on June 23, 1959, Sharon fondly recalled her early years spent with her grandparents, aunts and uncles.
She always felt grounded by the values she learned from the broader community there.
Her family immigrated to Canada on July 1, 1967 and this date was always significant for her when she celebrated Canada Day.

DAVIES, Wendy Elizabeth (nee QUIRK) - 1936 – 2021 It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Wendy Davies on Thursday, September 16, 2021.
Wendy was born on July 3, 1936, in Montreal, Quebec, the only daughter of Aubrey Wentworth Quirk (Manly, Australia) and Mabel Gertrude Popplestone (Yorkshire, England).
Wendy was the adored wife of the late John Davies (deceased, 2008).
Cherished Mom to Pamela Lewis (Lawrie) and Christopher Davies (Mary).
Devoted Nana to James and Olivia Lewis and Megan, Jason, Abbie and Lauren Davies. Wendy grew up in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce (N.D.G.), Montreal and attended McGill University where she earned a degree in Sociology and Economics.
It was here, during her final year, where she met the love of her life, John.
