Babatzanis GeoginaBABATZANIS, Geogina 'Georgie' (Choras) - After a long and fulfilling life, Georgie Babatzanis passed away peacefully with her niece by her side on Wednesday March 3, 2021 at the age of 94.

Georgie was predeceased by her beloved husband Dr. John Babatzanis, and her much loved siblings Angeline, Bessie, and Peter.

She will be dearly missed and forever adored by her many cherished nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Georgie was born in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada on December 30, 1926 to Theodore and Stella Choras. She spent a few years living in Greece with her family, returning to St. Thomas as a child.

She settled in Toronto where she worked in the psychology department at the Hospital for Sick Children. After two decades of dedicated work at Sick Children, she went on to become a child psychotherapist, starting her own private practice, which she continued until her retirement.

Passionate about helping children, she devoted her career to counselling and caring for young people in need of assistance, and to advocating for their best interests.

She met and married John on October 10, 1968. They enjoyed a wonderfully rich life together for 48 years until John’s passing in 2017.  Georgie will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and intellect, as well as for her elegance and beauty. Her legacy will live on through her lifetime of devotion to the care and service of children. May her memory be eternal.

We would like to thank the staff at Revera Leaside Retirement Living for their compassionate care of Georgie. We also wish to express our gratitude to Georgie’s kind and dedicated caregivers for many years: Joyce, Grace, Paul, Beverley and Selma.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Funeral Service will be privately held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church. Interment to follow.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to Sick Kids.
