Vanderploeg JackVANDERPLOEG, Jack A. - (July 28th, 1945 – March 7th, 2021) - With great sadness, we announce that Jack passed away at Southlake Regional Health Centre after suffering with cancer and Covid-19.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Kathy (née Heinemann), daughter Emily, son Jeffery (Kristin Himmelman) and grandchildren Poppy, Teddy, George, and Benjamin, and siblings Hank Vanderploeg, Rita Whelan, Peter Vanderploeg, Anne Dol, Sister Louise Vanderploeg, and Lou Vanderploeg, with whom, together with their parents, he arrived in Canada at Pier 21 from The Netherlands in 1952.

An Aurora resident for over 60 years, he was a keen athlete, playing golf, baseball, football, and hockey from his youth with the Aurora Tigers to the senior leagues with the Church Dodgers. He was a proud salesman and self-made businessman with a successful career that spanned over 40 years.

In recent years, he drew great fulfillment from volunteering for the CHATS organization, delivering meals to seniors. A kind and generous husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, he will be greatly missed.

A private funeral will be held at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation and The Stronach Regional Cancer Centre. southlake.ca/foundation

Due to the current pandemic we regret we cannot offer a public funeral service. Visitation and Funeral Mass attendance will be by invitation only. We apologize for the inconvenience. Arrangements are entrusted with Thompson funeral home, Aurora.
