RAINEY, Gerald Robert Rainey   - June 9, 1931 – December 13, 2019

Passed away at Glen Hill Marnwood in Bowmanville, Ontario on December 13, 2019 at the age of 88.

Gerald was born and lived most of his life in the Orono area, where he and wife of 61 years, Darlene (nee Danks) raised their daughters, Linda Rainey, Rockwood, Ontario and Marie Lees (Graeme), Brighton, Ontario.

A 36 year employee of General Motors Oshawa, Gerald had a lifelong love of horses, purchasing his first Standardbred in the mid-1960’s. Soon after exhibiting road horses at local fairs and racing at area tracks became a family hobby.

He was the chair of the light horse committee at Orono Fair for 25 years and was a lifetime Honorary Member of Orono Fair. In addition to his wife and daughters, Gerald is survived by granddaughters Karen Lees, Toronto and Brenda Leclerc (Eric), Victoria, British Columbia, and his twin sister Jean Allin, Bowmanville.

The family extends their gratitude to the staff at Glen Hill Marnwood with special thanks to Dr. Osborne for his many years of compassion and care.

Visitation will be held at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, Bowmanville on Sunday, December 15, 2019 from 2-4pm. A Funeral Service will be held at TRINITY UNITED CHURCH, 116 Church Street, Bowmanville on Monday, December 16, 2019 at 11  am with visiting one hour prior.

In honor of Gerald, memorial donations to the Alzheimers Society of Canada or Trinity United Church, Bowmanville would be greatly appreciated.
