GAREY, Margit Tuija Kirsi-Marja (Anttila) - September 16, 1948 - July 21, 2021
Margit Garey of Toronto, Ontario, 72, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, from Alzheimer's.
Margit was born in Lahti, Finland and immigrated to Canada by ship at the age of five years old through Halifax's fabled Pier 21.
Margit was predeceased by her parents Eino and Maire Anttila and her husband Edward Charles Garey.
She is survived by her two brothers Robert and Martti, sister Eila and three children Melanie, Miranda, and Timothy.
It should also be noted that Margit would want to acknowledge her younger sister Jennine as one of her raised children along with stepchildren Edmund and Cheryl.
As for grandchildren, Margit is survived by Tallie, Phoenix, Elise, Nicholas, Reija, Ella, Ava, Stephanie, John and Marcus as well as her great-grandchildren, that truly will miss her great Sunday dinners, candid opinion, and love beyond measurement.
The viewing will be hosted at McEachnie Funeral Home, Ajax, ON, on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, from 4-8 p.m. Services celebrating Margit's life will also be hosted on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at 11 a.m. with a brief burial service in Pickering, ON.
