RICHARDS, Maurice 'Moe' Grant – (September 24, 1939 – August 30, 2021)

Maurice (“Moe) Richards passed away peacefully in Bowmanville Hospital on August 30, 2021, after a short battle with health issues.

Predeceased by his spouse of 58 years, Mary Anne Richards (July 22, 1938 – August 7, 2018).

Moe is survived by his children: Linda Richards (Mary McDaniel) in Lewisburg, Tennessee and Brett Richards (Latifa Nezirevic) of Goodwood, Ontario.

Moe had 7 grandchildren: Jolene Braun (pre-deceased), Evan Glaze, Preston Glaze, Brady Richards, Myles Richards, Akira Nezirevic and Nyla Nezirevic; and one great-grandchild Trevor Glaze.

Moe’s accomplishments were many, while spending a lifetime committed to “Service over Self” with 54 years as a dedicated member of the Bowmanville Lions Club, receiving Lifetime Member Status, the Melvin Jones Fellowship, the Helen Keller Award, and the Paul Harris Fellowship presented to him by the Rotary Club of Bowmanville.

Moe was most proud of this community accomplishment, and generously donated 20 to 30 hours a week of his time (for over 25 years) working in the Seniors Centre, and tending to bar for the Lions Club.

Moe spent his entire working career at General Motors in Oshawa from the “Boys Line” in 1956 to salaried staff, retiring in 1994 (38 years).

In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations be made to the Bowmanville Older Adults Centre (“BOAA”).

Service arrangements are entrusted with Morris Funeral Chapel in Bowmanville.  Private Family and Friends Services will be held (Limited to invitation only – due to Covid restrictions).
