Salmers DavidSALMERS, David Warren Salmers  -  September 18, 1954 – January 23, 2022

We are heartbroken to share that on January 23rd, 2022, our beloved Dave died suddenly at the age of 67 while skiing with his cherished wife of 35 years Mary Jane, daughter Gabrielle (Brett), and son Patrick (Kelly).

He also leaves behind his dear sister Cathy, her sons Jamie (Deighna) and Jeffrey (Victoria), and numberless friends.

He will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered by his sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, in the Monteith clan.

After practicing law in Oshawa for 20 years Dave was appointed to the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, much to the pride of his parents Zen and Olga, who predeceased him.

Dave was passionate about athletics and the outdoors, especially skiing.

A fixture at the Brimacombe ski club and the Oshawa Golf Club, he could also be found canoe tripping in Algonquin Park, biking in Durham Forest, and relaxing at his cottage on Cameron Lake.

Most recently he was looking forward to the fulfillment of his lifelong dream: spending winters skiing in British Columbia with his friends.

Dave lived to spend time with his friends and family. A source of counsel and support to many, we could always rely on Dave's joie de vivre and booming laughter to remind us that life is meant to be enjoyed with those we love.

A private family service will be held on January 29th, followed by a public celebration of life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations in Dave's memory would be appreciated to The Friends of Algonquin Park, The Durham Mountain Biking Association, Nature Conservancy Canada, or any other environmental cause.

On-line condolences may be left for the family at  oshawafuneralhome.com .
