ROOT, Sydney Charles - It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Sid (Sidney) Charles Root (The Red Lion) on February 13, 2022, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa after a brief illness.
Born in Windsor Ontario on November 2, 1951, to Charles Manley Root and Betty Hilda Root (Leach).
He was a resident of Bowmanville Ontario and is survived by his children Sam (Julia) and Kelly (Imad) as well as his siblings Mary, Kathy (Dan), Violet (late Jack), and Bob (Jane).
He will be dearly missed by his granddaughters Dahlia, Eleanor, Celeste, and Leila as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was married to Lori for 25 years during which time they moved from Edmonton to Ontario and they raised Sam (meat head) and Kelly (squawk box), they remained friends for over 20 years after separation.
He enjoyed spending time with his siblings and going up to Alliston to visit Lainy, Dave, and Emmett. He loved razzing Sam, going for Dim Sum and riding bikes with Kelly, walking in the woods with Dahlia, Ellie, Celeste and Orbit, and eating ice cream with Leila on Facetime.

A celebration of life will be held for Sid on June 4, 2022, at an undecided time/location in Durham/Clarington.
