Phillips WilliamPHILLIPS, William Gerald “Bill”   -  September 2, 1952 – February 18, 2022

Passed away peacefully on Friday, February 18th, 2022 at his home in Whitby with his mother, Irene, and dear friend, Patty Salonius, by his side.

He was 69 years old.

Loved and admired by his daughter Pattie, as well as his younger brothers Peter (Sharon) and Robert (Sherry), and his sister-in-law Vivian Hodgson.

Predeceased by his devoted wife of 34 years Debbie (nee Silverthorn), his father William (Bill) Sr., his in-laws William (Bill) and Sandra Silverthorn, and his sister-in-law Mary Silverthorn.

A long-time employee of Smurfit-MBI (Macmillan Bathurst) in Whitby, Bill was known for his love of: Tim Horton’s coffee, his 1980 Monte Carlo, a well-manicured lawn, and the Hamilton Tiger Cats (a love he shared with his parents who met and married and started their family in Hamilton).

He will be remembered fondly by his extended family and the many friends he collected over the years.

A private funeral service will take place at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West on Friday, February 25th with interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Whitby, and a Celebration of Life service planned for this summer for those who wish to gather and share in his memory.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the R.S. McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre and the Palliative Care Team, as well as the many PSWs who visited daily from St. Elizabeth’s Health, for their kind and compassionate care these last few months.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Online condolences may be made at oshawafuneralhome.com .
