Corcoran AlbertaCORCORAN , Alberta Edwina Corcoran  -

APRIL 14, 1940 – APRIL 20, 2023

It is with great sadness but also a sense of peace, that we share the passing of Alberta Edwina Corcoran (nee Hazlett), of Oshawa, Ontario, at the age of 83.

Alberta was born in Chelmsford, NB on April 14, 1940, and cherished her visits home every year for as long as she was able.

For the last five years, she was on a courageous cancer battle that she so bravely fought.

On April 20, 2023, Alberta passed away peacefully, in her home, with the love of her family by her side.

Alberta was predeceased by her loving husband of 51 years, David Corcoran and their infant daughter, Wanda.

She was the proud and loving mother of Jim (Marian), Barbara (Robert) Chamberlain, Noreen, Diana (the late Joe) Van Kuik, and Paul. Alberta had great pride and love for all her grandchildren.

She was fondly known as Grammie to Christine (Nigel), Laura (Pete), David (Hayley), Jennifer, Brian (Whitney), Dillon (Kaitlin), Matthew, Adam and Katie-Beth (Matthew).

She was always so proud to share that she had 14 great-grandchildren: Natalie, Caleigh, Jaxon, James, Luke, Logan, Levi, Leo, Taylor, Morgan, Riley, Ellianna, Johnathan and Alexander.

Alberta is survived by her sisters, Rosemary Green, Victoria (the late Lionel) Hebert, and her brother Tooka (Donna) Peters. It brings our family great peace to know that Alberta is once again in the arms of her loved ones that have gone before her.

She is predeceased by her father Albert Hazlett, infant brother Milton Hazlett, her mother Yvonne (nee Carnahan) and her stepfather Harold Peters as well as her brother Gary Peters and sister-in-law Georgia Peters.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Anthony Naassan and the nurses at the Lakeridge Health Oshawa – Durham Regional Cancer Centre for their care and compassion toward Alberta during her courageous battle.

We would also like to thank the palliative care team that assisted with her home care in the last month.  Cremation has taken place and a private family burial will happen at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy in Alberta’s memory, donations may be made to the Lakeridge Health Oshawa – Durham Regional Cancer Centre or a charity of your choice.
