SEPTEMBER 2, 1924 – FEBRUARY 1, 2024

WWII Veteran. No Fears. No Tears. Just Peace.

Chris passed away peacefully at Hillsdale Estates in Oshawa on February 1, 2024 with his loving children by his side. He was in his 100th year.

He is predeceased in death by his wife Christine (nee Brodie), his sister Fay Henry and his parents Jessie and Ralph Tooley.

He was predeceased by his brother and boyhood pal, Sgt. Rex Tooley, killed in action in Italy on November 10, 1944.

Chris is survived by his children, Margaret (Larry Pearson), Robert (Lisa) and Jane (Dave Blakely). He is also survived by six loving grandchildren, Laura Sivers, Shannon (Dave Stewart), Duncan Tooley, Mary Tooley, Beth Blakely (Moe El Fayez) and Suzanne (Christian Hammond).

Chris was the proud great grandfather of Robert and John Sivers, Josie Stewart, Atlas and Ayla El Fayez and Rex, Jack and Blakely Hammond. Chris was born in Courtice on September 2, 1924.

He worked on the boys gang at General Motors at the age of 16. He volunteered for World War II at the age of 17 and served in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He returned to General Motors after the war and retired after 37 years.

Following retirement Chris worked at the Whitby Provincial Court House for many years.

Chris was a proud veteran, loved to tell a good joke, was passionate about golf, had an amazing memory, but mostly was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by many.

The family wishes to thank Hillsdale Estates Long Term Care home for the dedicated and compassionate care they provided Chris.
