BROWNSON, Arthur Leo Brownson  - Art passed away peacefully at home with his cherished wife Helen and daughter Kellie by his side on February 3, 2024 at the age of 94 years old.

Devoted husband to his adored wife Helen Brownson (nee Roache).

Cherished father of Kellie (Perry) Mattucci and the late Julie. Beloved grandfather of Cal, Robert and Christopher Lynde and Mitchell (Sofia) Mattucci. He will also be missed by his honorary daughter Julie Logan (nee Bacon).

Art will be reunited with many loved family members and will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Born on November 14, 1929, Art grew up on the family farm in Eldorado, before starting his career as a teacher and principal which would bring him to Oakville and Peterborough.

He is fondly remembered by many previous students. Art fought a valiant, courageous battle with cancer with superhuman resilience and determination.

He had an extraordinarily strong faith which guided him throughout his life journey and provided great solace in the past years.

Art’s cancer would not keep him down in sickness and in health playing golf as much as possible with nephew Larry and treasured his time golfing with his grandson Mitch.

Helen and Art celebrated 70 years of marriage in July 2023 and their love for each other was as strong as the day they met.

Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, 373 Simcoe Street South in Oshawa with a reception to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion #43 at 471 Simcoe Street South.

In memory of Art and in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to a charity of your choice.
