Myers JohnMYERS, John Peter Mark "Jack" Meyers  -  91, of Oakville, Ontario, passed away on March 31, 2024, surrounded by family.

 

Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, on November 12, 1932, Jack was deeply influenced by his father's craftsmanship and his mother's educational role, developing a lifelong passion for building and learning.

 

Jack was a pioneering food chemist and executive, leaving a profound mark on the industry with his roles as CEO of Stange and McCormick Foods Canada.

He was celebrated for developing the renowned Montreal Steak Spice and introducing mustard seed cultivation in Canada.

 

Jack's love for his family was evident in his participation in camping trips, building projects, and travel adventures.

 

He renovated homes and cultivated unique daylilies, with varieties named for each family member. His commitment extended to community service, leading organizations like the Canadian Institute of Food Science and the International Union of Food Science and Technology, and initiating a major waterfront festival in Oakville. In 1992, he received the Governor General's Medal of Honour for his work.

 

These efforts highlighted his passion for giving back and for making a difference. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Joan; children, David (Arti), Christopher (Yolanda), Karen (Joe) LeBlanc, and Peter (Danielle); and numerous cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

Jack was renowned for his humor, warmth, and unwavering dedication.

 

A celebration of life will be held at noon on Thursday, April 25th, at St. Paul's United Church, Oakville.
