WALKER, Doris Walker  -   89, residing at Amica Unionville, died quietly on the morning of April 22, 2024.

Doris was born on July 24, 1934, to Evelyn and Arthur Wood.

She grew up with her sister, Shirley in the Lawrence Park neighbourhood of uptown Toronto.

After graduating from high school, she studied dental nursing at the University of Toronto and then she started her first job working for Dr. Morgan in downtown Toronto.

After a seemingly long courtship by John Henry Walker, Doris and John were married in the summer of 1959.

They raised three children, Douglas, Bruce, and Anne, in their Scarborough home and enjoyed their family cottage during the summers.

After raising their family, Doris and John moved to their home on Carlton Road in Unionville and were happily married together until John passed away in 2002.

Doris had faced medical challenges later in life, including having fought melanoma and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

With the onset of dementia a few years ago, she was moved into Amica Unionville to help manage her increasing care needs. Doris is survived by her three children and four grandchildren, Tessa, Nathan, Matthew, and Ronan.

Visitation will be held at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home in Markham on April 29, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a service at Noon. A reception for family and friends will follow the service to celebrate Doris's life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
