BALOG, Peter - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Balog on April 25, 2024, surrounded by his family at Southlake Regional Health Centre.
Peter will be missed by his loving wife of 65 years, Anne (nee Coltman); his daughters, Kimberley Kelly (Frank) and Heather Bentham (Rob); his grandchildren Danielle, Josh (Jenn), Peter and Holly Lamarche (Jordan); and his great-grandchildren, Jolene and West Kelly.
Peter enjoyed a rewarding 35 year career with the Ontario Provincial Police, proudly serving the last 17 years on the Ontario Premier's Security Detail.
He was a devoted family man, whose favourite hobby was cooking beautiful meals from recipes he collected throughout the years and put into his special cook books. Peter loved hosting extended family gatherings around his pool, cruising and family vacations.
He had a jovial demeanour and was known for his wit, amusing sayings and "kabitzing" as he would call it.
Visitation will take place Sunday, May 5, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8. A service will be held Monday, May 6th at 11 a.m. followed by a reception from 12-2 p.m., all taking place at Roadhouse and Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main Street South, Newmarket.
Special thanks to Dr. Anglin, Dr. Liauw and the caring nursing staff in the Emergency, Cancer and Palliative units of Southlake.
