LEAVER, E. Brock - November 28, 1931 - November 11, 2020
We are saddened to announce that Brock passed away on November 11th at Oakville Hospital, with his family by his side.
He will be missed by his loving wife Margaret, step-daughter Sara, daughter Deborah, son Terry and predeceased by his son Glenn and brother Ross.
Brock enjoyed spending summers in Temagami where he loved time with family, friends, and his brother Ross (Joan) and family from Manitoba.

KLINGBAUM, Michael - Michael Klingbaum passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at the age of 86.
A character. A story teller. A man with a heart of gold. His family was his universe.
Michael was a child survivor of the Holocaust in Poland. After the war, he lived in Israel serving in the Air Force, before immigrating to Canada. Starting with nothing, Michael, alongside his beloved wife Elana of 61 years, built a new life in Kitchener and Toronto, and was the father of four children: Janet (Arthur Chippin), Mark (Ilene), Gale (Lorne Star) and Leonard.

WIEBE, Rudolph Henry - Passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2020.
Rudy was born and raised in Leamington, Ontario, the same town where Marlene, his wife, also grew up.
He graduated from the University of Windsor with a B.Sc., and began his working career teaching Science at Leamington District Secondary School.
He then pursued an M.Div. at Toronto Baptist Seminary (TBS) while at the same time pastoring Faith Baptist Church in Oakville for four years.
In 1975 he was asked to become a teacher at TBS and while teaching, he worked for the next eleven years on a Masters of Arts in Near Eastern studies.

JELINEK, Helen - During the moment of silence on November 11, 2020 Remembrance Day, Our Mother Quietly and Gently ended her war with liver disease.
Helen was born on the blessed island of Tinos in the Cyclades and moved to Athens as a young girl. In her 20's, the entire family made their way to Toronto and quickly met a Czech shoe store manager while shopping with her two sisters.
Though brief, the courtship was approved by her older brother and they married with little in common; including language and diet.

HOPPER-RIEDE, Doris Edna - With sadness we say farewell to Doris Edna Hopper-Riede.
Doris passed away peacefully, in Peace Arch Hospital, on November 10, 2020.
Born on September 6, 1942, on a dairy farm in the west end of Ottawa, Doris graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Journalism.

AUGER, Simone - Our dear Simone passed away on November 10, 2020 in Toronto at the age of 86, following a series of small strokes and previously undiagnosed ovarian cancer.
A calamitous, sad end to a gentle life, though she was able to employ Canada’s progressive Medical Assistance in Dying Act, aided by two most humane physicians.
Simone was a native of Montreal, born in modest circumstances. The middle of three sisters, they lost their mother to cancer while still young children. The Catholic nuns proved to be some measure of replacement, and Simone loved the formal learning they provided. The first in her family to attend university, Simone received a classical education first at the University of Montreal and subsequently at the Sorbonne in Paris; she received degrees from both. Returning reluctantly to Canada from France, she was promptly hired as an arts journalist at Montreal's La Presse newspaper, simply because an editor said he liked the sound of her voice on the telephone. She always chuckled at this lax hiring process, though she did have a lovely speaking voice.
Simone soon became a respected movie critic and arts journalist in Montreal. Then following her marriage to an American poet and teacher name Richard Uhlich, she moved to New York City and became a radio and TV producer for Radio Canada/CBC, covering the arts and ideas for most of the 1960s. She interviewed and profiled such figures as Anais Nin, Edgard Varèse, and Salvador Dali, while keeping up her weekly arts column for La Presse, and later writing and taping a weekly NY arts diary radio column for Radio Canada.

SANTOS, Leonardo Duya - It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the Santos and Cruz families announce the peaceful and yet sudden passing of Leonardo Duya Santos in Brampton Civic Hospital on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at the age of 74.
Leonardo was married to Teresita Tee, who also passed the week prior. They both were blessed with a daughter, Maria Lea and a son, Chrischindo.
He will be missed by his grandchildren John, Julian and James, whom he had shared many memorable moments here in Canada.
