JELINEK, Helen - During the moment of silence on November 11, 2020 Remembrance Day, Our Mother Quietly and Gently ended her war with liver disease.
Helen was born on the blessed island of Tinos in the Cyclades and moved to Athens as a young girl. In her 20's, the entire family made their way to Toronto and quickly met a Czech shoe store manager while shopping with her two sisters.
Though brief, the courtship was approved by her older brother and they married with little in common; including language and diet.
Her plan was to become the best greek-czech cook, and so it began. Hosting every main event for all her siblings, they began a love for cuisine nothing like mediterranean food. Eventually, Dad accepted some greek recipes!
I had a very enchanted travel diary, one of the gifts of towing the only child everywhere with them.She could make anyone laugh, she was funny, no question; She was Truly Loved & is praying for all of us that cared about her, as she did every day.
