Loewen PaulaLOEWEN, Paula   - Peacefully in Toronto, on Thursday, August 8, 2019, aged 98 years.

Paula was a loving wife to Jakob (deceased 1981).

Survived by her son, Jacob (Margaret) and grandsons Jonathan (Valerie), Michael and Robert (Alecia) and by Jonathan's children, Alex, Jacob and William.

Paula was born October 18, 1920 on a farm near Poltava, Ukraine. Paula relocated several times due to collectivization, unrest and WWII.

Paula met and married Jakob Loewen during the war years.

They were sponsored to Canada in 1948.

As a young mother, she returned to school and became a teacher in Winnipeg. After retirement, she moved to Mississauga to live near her son and grandchildren.

She was active in the Mennonite Church in Winnipeg and in Mississauga. Paula was fiercely proud of being the first female Physics teacher in Manitoba. She was an avid gardener until 97 and valued her independence always.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter "Neweduk-Erin Mills" Chapel, 1981 Dundas St. W., Mississauga, on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Friday, August 16, 2019, at 11 a.m.
