O'CONNELL, Michael Edward   -  (April 7, 1944 - September 6, 2019)  -  Was born in Drum, Athlone, Ireland on April 7th 1944. His father, Michael John, was a dairy farmer and with his wife Margaret they had six children. Michael, being the eldest son, was born to take over the family farm, but the adventurist side of him had other plans.

At the age of 17, Michael left Ireland to live in England with his uncle. From there he lived in Paris, Berlin, and Stockholm where he worked on a cruise ship and traveled the world. His adventure led him over to Canada in 1971 where he settled in Vancouver and was soon hired with Air Canada and moved to Toronto. In 1978 he met his to be wife Carole McLauchlan, also a flight attendant, and they married in 1980. The couple had two beautiful daughters, Natalie and Vanessa. Natalie married Luca Mena and had Michael’s first grandson, Leo.

Michael loved life. When he was diagnosed with cancer in 2013, his love for life and his family increased. His diagnosis did not slow him down. After a brave battle he took his last breath on September 6th, at 1:42pm; He was a fighter to his last moments. Michael died peacefully - surrounded by his loved ones. He was loved immensely and will be greatly missed. He leaves in mourning his beloved family in Ireland and Canada, and friends over the world.

Family and friends will be received at the Scott Funeral Home – Brampton Chapel, on Sunday, September 22, 2019 from 1:30pm to 2:30pm, followed by a memorial service in the Chapel at 2:30pm.

If desired, donations to the Bethell Hospice – Inglewood (15835 McLaughlin Road, Inglewood, ON) would be appreciated by the family.
