Scholton ElizabethSCHOLTEN, Elizabeth Johanna Maria (van Gestel) Scholten - Passed away peacefully in Brampton, Ontario, on November 26th, 2019, at 11:15am, with family at her side.

Born to Theodore and Jacoba van Gestel on December 19th, 1934, in Hilversum, Holland, she studied at the conservatory in preparation for a life dedicated to music.

In 1959, Elizabeth married Theodore Scholten, and emigrated to Canada. The two of them shared a profound love for Canada and especially its boundless natural beauty.

Her life was a continuous celebration of music, art and culture. She cherished her time singing in choirs, especially in the St. Mary's parish community and in the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir. As a music educator, she shared her gifts through voice and piano lessons to many in the community. Many adults now play the piano thanks to her. As a volunteer she gave countless hours to share her sense of beauty and uplift those around her.

Her deep and enduring faith sustained her throughout her life. Forever will we feel her spirit of optimism, stoicism and her love and care for those around her.

Preceded by her dear husband Theodore H. Scholten. Missed and cherished by: siblings and their loving families, Jaap, Joop, Maria, Leny and Christine; children, Lydia (Peter Doig), Erik (Suzanne Merrell), Yves (Alexis Buset) and Ernest (Brigida Scholten); grandchildren Heather Doig (Peter Leimbigler), Rebecca Doig (Trevor Mason), Erika Scholten, Jessica Callaghan (Chris O’Bray), Rachel Callaghan (Tommy Aykler), and Adhara Collins Scholten; great-grandchildren, Thomas Alexander Callaghan and Arya Maisie Aykler.

Family and friends will be received at Brampton Funeral Home, Brampton, on Wednesday December 4th from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Funeral service: Thursday, December 5th at 10:30 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 66A Main St. South, Brampton, followed by burial at 11:45 am. Reception to follow at 1:00 pm at Holland Christian Homes - Harmony Hall, 45 Kingknoll Dr, Brampton.
