Strickland JoanSTRICKLAND, Joan (Kirkham) - (1933 - 2020) - Joan Strickland (Kirkham) passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Saturday February 8, 2020 at Lakeshore Lodge, Etobicoke, Ontario.

Joan was a force of nature and was loved by all who knew her.

She was born and grew up in Parry Sound, moving to Toronto at the age of 17. There she met and married Don, the love of her life, and the two settled in Streetsville to raise their family. Five children later, in 1983, they retired to Parry Sound to continue an active life surrounded by friends and family.

Don and Joan were married 62 loving years. Joan was intelligent, generous and loyal, and she was a pillar of strength to her family, friends and community. She enjoyed music, playing cards, sewing, cooking, baking and Scrabble. She loved to entertain and her hospitality was legendary.

She leaves a big hole in all our our hearts, and will be greatly missed by siblings Lawrence, Peter, Barbara and Marjorie, children Kathryn, Donna (James), Alanna (Andrew), Lori (Tracy), and Michael (Michelle), grandchildren Jonathon, Melissa, Lindsay, Tyler, Daniel, Jason, Annie and Zoe, and great grandchildren Payton, Reid, Lyric and River.

Joan was predeceased by her husband Donald, grandson Benjamin, brothers Daniel and Stanley, and her parents Allan and Isobel Kirkham.

If desired, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society Ontario or Cystic Fibrosis Canada.

Arrangements for visitation and memorial service are entrusted with Scott funeral home, MISSISSAUGA Chapel.
