Mackey AllanMACKEY, Allan - Surrounded by family, Allan passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 28, 2020 at the age of 68.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 46 years, Jill, his children, Kristin (Ashley) and Cheryl (Spencer) and his granddaughters Addison, Avery, Charlotte and Everly.

Allan will be fondly remembered by his sister Catherine and in-laws Linda, Maurice, Penny, Tina and Terry as well as many nieces and nephews.

Allan was born on March 25, 1951 to James and Viola Mackey in Montreal, Quebec. From a young age, he had a passion for education, excelling in school and becoming the first in his family to attend university.

After moving to Toronto, Ontario in 1977, Allan’s 32-year career with the York Catholic District School Board began as a teacher and then Vice Principal at St. Robert Catholic High School.

In 1990, Allan became Principal of St. Brother Andre Catholic High School in Markham, a school which always held a special place in his heart. Allan later became Superintendent of High Schools for the board until his retirement in 2009.

Allan made the most of his retirement, playing with his grandchildren, spending time at the cottage on Kushog Lake, wintering in Florida and travelling the world with Jill.

Visitation will be held at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, Markham on Friday, March 6th from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. A private family service will take place at a later time.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
