STELLATO, Raffaele - With sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Raffaele on February 29, 2020 at the age of 83.
Beloved husband for 61 years to Carolina and devoted father to Marisa (Michael Granieri) and Loris (Paula).
Proud Nonno of Elana (fiancée John-Paul Compagnone), Simone, Jeremy, Jonathan, and Karina.
Predeceased by his siblings Giovanni, Emilio, Antonio, Alfredo and Adamo.
He will forever be remembered by his surviving siblings Oscar, Achille, Alberto and Costandina.
A dear Uncle, he will be missed by his many nieces, nephews and their families.
At the age of 17, with no English and very little money, Raffaele embarked on a voyage to Canada to build a new life. He settled in a house with his brothers, cousins and an uncle.
Soon he met and fell in love with his future wife Lina. They married, bought a small house, and raised a daughter and son.
Raffaele was a hard worker and became a factory foreman. If working full time wasn’t enough, after-hours Raffaele started his own custom mattress business.
Raffaele was a friendly soul; he had a quiet way of putting others at ease. For Raffaele, there was always time to help others.
In his senior years, Raffaele spent his time working in the garden, helping neighbours, and playing cards. For all who knew him, Raffaele was a friendly giant of a man. Raffaele will be truly missed by his family, friends and neighbours.
Visitations will be held at the Bernardo Funeral Home, Dufferin Chapel, Toronto on Wednesday March 4 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in All Saints Church, 1415 Royal York Rd., Toronto on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. Entombment will follow.
In memory of Raffaele, donations may be made to the Humber River Hospital Foundation.
