GIOVAGNOLI, Tarcisio - (May 19, 1931 - March 29, 2020)
Loving husband, father and grandfather has passed to his eternal rest.
Tarcisio Giovagnoli, passed away with his immediate family at his side.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Aurelia, son Denis, and daughter Nadia and her husband Vincent and granddaughter Tanya.
In Italy, he is survived by his sister, Assunta and her husband Amleto. He was predeceased by his brothers, Dante and Mirco and their respective wives, Nice and Adalvisa.
Born in San Michele al Fiume, Italy on May 19, 1931, he was predeceased by his father (Nazzareno) at the age of 3. He was raised by his mother (Maria) during the Second World War instilling core values of sacrifice for family, work ethic and cherishing time with family.
As a young man, Tarcisio served in the Italian army and later apprenticed as a furniture maker before immigrating to Toronto, Canada in June 1955. Two years later, his future wife, Aurelia, also immigrated to Toronto, Canada. They were married in August 1957.
Tarcisio provided for his family by working as a carpenter for over 35 years. Most of his work required him to endure Canadian winters and summers on new construction projects in a growing city of Toronto. In his spare time it was not unusual for him to help a friend or neighbour in the building of a shed, fitting of a door, or completing a home renovation.
He loved most things related to the outdoors; hunting and fishing with friends, working on his vegetable garden and going for long walks in the park. He enjoyed playing bocce and cards with friends and family and had an appreciation of traditional Italian music. He particularly loved the music of the accordion, an instrument taken up by his daughter.
Those who knew him well recognized his smile when enjoying traditional, home-cooked, Italian food during holidays and celebrations. His biggest smiles would come from appreciating the accomplishments of his children and grandchild and reflecting on the life he built for his family with his loving wife.
A Husband, a Father, a Nonno, a Friend and a good Neighbour will be missed but not be forgotten.
Private Family Gathering at Delmoro funeral home, Toronto on April 2nd, and Private Entombment will be held due to the COVID-19 state of emergency for limited gatherings.
