ROSENBLATT, Freda - At age 88, peacefully passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2020.

Beloved wife of her late husband, Sam, loving mother and mother-in-law of Henry Rosenblat (Jackie Jordan), Sarah Manson (Robert), and Pnina Ptasznik (Michael).

Devoted Bubbie to David (Sharan), Josh (Alyssa), Daniel and Nikki. Great grandmother to Nivi.

Freda was a child Holocaust survivor, who beat all odds after being orphaned at the age of 10.

With only a fifth-grade education, Freda spoke 5 languages, mastered Jewish history and rabbinics, participated in the publication of a Holocaust memoir, was a self-taught cook, and intuitively knew how to be an amazing mother.

Determined to ensure that the tragedies of the Holocaust were never forgotten or repeated, she engaged high school students and adults of all ethnicities in discussions of her survival during the war.

Despite her earlier hardships, Freda showed love, charm and compassion to those around her.  Her love of yiddish music, dancing and celebrations with family brought her joy and happiness. Freda is already missed by those who knew and loved her.

Private Family Services will be streamed online on Sunday, June 7th at 2 p.m. on smclive.ca.

Memorial donations may be made to Beit Halochem Canada, Aid to Disabled Veterans of Israel, 905-695-0611 or https://beithalochem.ca or Baycrest Foundation,  https://baycrestfoundation.org/Why-Give/
