Bond DarwynBOND, Darwyn Samuel Jacob - Unexpectedly, at 25 years of age, on June 4, 2020, Darwyn left our world to hopefully find the peace and harmony he so desperately wanted for himself.

Suffering from mental illness and addiction, Darwyn was struggling recently, but was determined to overcome these demons, and was making great progress.

Unfortunately, he was not meant to reach his destination here with us on earth.

Darwyn continues to be loved by so many; he will always be remembered for his heart of gold, compassion for others, his infectious smile and laugh, and his awesome work ethic. Darwyn loved his job working as a stone mason, and in general loved working with his hands. He often took things apart to explore, even if they didn’t always get reassembled properly or completely.

He was constantly taking apart and ‘modding’ electronics… likely driven by some master plan or goal we didn’t quite understand. As a teenager, skateboarding was a huge part of his life. He enjoyed fishing a lot, and the highlight for Darwyn had to be catching a large Mahi Mahi in the Pacific Ocean just off the coast of Nicaragua.

We are all heartbroken and grieving, but will focus our energies on remembering all of the things we loved about Darwyn. Those of us whose lives were very close to Darwyn’s will fondly remember him; Aiesha (Mom,) Ken (Step-Dad,) Sheldon (Brother) and Orethea, Jen (Step-Sister) and Lyall, Nick (Step-Brother) and Alex, and of course Dash. Darwyn and Dash had a very special relationship, and would often disappear for some therapeutic loving.

Darwyn is also survived by his father Wally, multiple sets of grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends.

In lieu of holding visitation or a funeral at this time, the family will be holding a private cremation, and will schedule a Celebration of Life, likely in the fall of this year.

Donations, in memory and honour of Darwyn, may be made to camh (Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.)
