Baldi CarmelBALDI, Mary Katherine Carmel (Jenkinson) - Born July 6, 1926, died peacefully in her daughter’s home on July 19, 2020, with her daughter and granddaughters by her side, and peacefully went home to be with those she missed so much.

Born in Dublin, Ireland she came to Canada, to fulfill her father’s dream, in June 1956.

To those who knew her, she went by Carmel, “sweet by name and nature” she would love to say.

She fell in love with Robert Baldi and was married in 1957. They had 4 children, Julia, Robert, Mark & John.

Carmel loved her “L” daughter-in-laws very much as well - Laura, Liane and Lisa.

She is predeceased by her husband Bob, son Mark and favorite son-in-law Frank.

As in all families, there exists a force that binds everyone together, supports all in times of struggles and loves fiercely with honesty and faith, and this was Carmel.

She was so proud of her family and with her long life was blessed to see her children married and gain the love of her grandchildren, Francine (Chris), Renee (Joe), Alexandra, Sonia, Theo, Quintin, Luke and Emma.

She also had the joy of knowing her Great Grandchildren, calling herself Nonna “GG” to Cameron, Avery, Jordan, Charlotte and Samuel.

Carmel was the eldest of 5 sisters (2 who followed her to Canada) and considered herself the matriarch of the family that grew and grew. She will be sadly missed by her only remaining sister Nuala and many nieces, nephews and friends. Carmel made friends wherever she went and those who earned her friendship were blessed to know her. Staying strong to their Catholic community at St. Thomas More Parish in Scarborough, ON, she prided herself on being a President of the Catholic Women’s League and gained many of her wonderful friends through this group.

Even when faced with the challenges of dementia, she was still always smiling, content and happy to be around those she loved. We are grateful to her wonderful PSW Josie, who helped lovingly care for her, in her final years. Carmel was beautiful, friendly, independent and strong. She will forever be missed and a smile will come over our faces as we recall the fun times and Carmel’s love of life.

Arrangements withChapel Ridge Funeral Home, Markham. The service will take place at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 5633 Highway #7 East, markham on Wednesday, July 22nd, 2020 at 11:00am.

If the desire should fall upon you, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ALS Society, Canadian Cancer Society or the MS Society.
