Sopoci OlgaSOPOCI, Olga – (December 22, 1932 – August 20, 2020) -

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother, Olga. After a lengthy battle with Congestive Heart Failure, Olga has gained her well deserved wings.

A true angel to all who knew her, she will be dearly missed by her five daughters, Susan Aldridge (Brian ~2006), Ellen McGee (Kevin ~2001), Ollie Pehlemann (Mark), Paulette Sopoci, Dorie Stewart (Chris).

She’ll also be greatly missed by her loving grandchildren; James (Jen), Christine (Michelle), Morgan (Raquel), Allyson (Brett), Curtis (Chrystal), Bennet, Abigail, Sophia, Graham, Jack & Avery. And her special Great-Grandchildren Samantha, Evelyn, Spencer and Mason.

Special mention to her son-in-law Tim and her sweet Niece Natalia (Tomek) and her children Leo and Ella and to the many relatives in Slovakia (too many here to mention but each one so dear to her heart)

Predeceased by our dear Father, her loving husband Paul (2008), Olga arrived in Canada from Czechoslovakia in 1950 and shortly thereafter, met and married our Dad in 1951. They built a beautiful life together here in Canada raising their five girls (including a set of twins). First in Pickering and then in Nestleton, Ontario.

Olinka, as she was affectionately called by many, was a master homemaker making some of the best European home cooked meals and desserts known on Canadian soil. She loved to entertain, but her real gift though, was her ability to make everyone feel that they were special.

It is impossible to sum up what an impact she made to everyone she met and although in the end her heart became weak from disease, she used every ounce of love from that heart to spread joy and love to all up until the very end.

We the family are eternally grateful to the following. Her dearest friends Ethel Dzamba and Helen Latka for their tireless efforts helping our Mom while she still lived alone in Aurora. A special mention to her incredible care team over the past few years, Dr. Keith Johnstone, Dr. Katie Mulhern, Nurses Mike and Dale. You all were greatly appreciated for your excellent care and compassion. And last, but not at all least, how can we find the words to thank the Nurses and PSW’s at Margaret Bahen Hospice. Her “angels”, as she affectionately called them, made a difference in her final months and gave her such comfort and peace… and in her words, you all gave her “a little piece of Heaven before Heaven”….

May our Dear Mamicka rest in peace.

~A private service for immediate family only will be held at this time~
