Couto ZeliaCOUTO, Zelia Da Conceicao Amaral - 75, of Toronto, passed away September 8, 2020. Her family remained by her side.

She was born to the late Jose and Sofia Couto, December 7, 1944, in Lomba Da Maia, Sao Miguel, Azores.

After marrying the late David De Medeiros Couto in 1966, they immigrated to Canada and settled into Toronto’s Portuguese enclave where they lived for 50 years.

Zelia is survived by her four children: Helen Couto, Carlos Couto, Michael Couto, Genny Couto, daughter-in-law Lidia Oliveira, and by her three grandchildren; Madeleine, Sofia and Markues.

A wonderful mother, a doting grandmother, and a woman whose faith kept her strong, Zelia will be fondly remembered tending to her beloved garden, enjoying large gatherings with extended family, and leading an honest life.

Visitation will be held at Cardinal Funeral Home, Bathurst Chapel, Toronto on September 10, 2020 from 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM. The service will take place at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 130 Bathurst Street, Toronto on September 11, 2020 at 9:45 AM.

If desired, memorial donations to Diabetes Canada would be appreciated by the family.
