Ikeda ArtIKEDA, Arthur Hiroshi - With broken hearts, we announce the passing of Arthur Hiroshi Ikeda on Wednesday December 2, 2020 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

Arthur lived his 89 years with a passion for life in his role as eldest son, brother, husband, father and grandfather.

What started in his early life as a need to care of his mother and siblings, turned into a desire to always take care of everyone close to him. He will be remembered for his constant concern for others, the need to keep connected with family, his respect for the elderly, his laughter and sense of humour, and his love for Japanese cooking and baking pies.

Arthur was an active volunteer and received an Ontario Volunteer Service Award as well as the Outstanding Asian Canadian Award in recognition of Exemplary Contribution to the Canadian Community. His interest in the Japanese community led to being President of the Kumamoto Kenjin-Kai and President of the Toronto Japanese Garden Club, a role that was well suited for him and his love of gardening.

Arthur is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Mariko Ikeda (nee: Izukawa).

Loving father of Edward (Teri) and Catherine (Besem) Blazys.

Grandfather of Austin and Erika.

Devoted brother of Kenneth (Kanako), Sidney (Marie), Edgar, Evelyn (Ken) Sekiya, Kay (Ed) Naganobu and Bernie (Linda) and brother-in-law of the late Teruo (Joyce) Izukawa and Misao (Nick) Nishikawa.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre (JCCC):
https://jccc.on.ca/join-support/donate/make-donation.

Due to the current pandemic the visitation and funeral service have been restricted to 10 people by invite only.
