Major Elkin NoconaMAJOR-ELKIN, Nocona Beauregard - Where do we start in describing the life of Nocona Beauregard Major-Elkin who passed away on February 25, 2021 at the age of 24? And how do you celebrate a young man’s life in a few words when he lived a full life that would be appropriately told in a book or movie?

“Cona” certainly had the movie star looks and the most infectious laugh that would warm the fans of any big screen!

Nocona grew up in a life full of warmth and love surrounded by family and his love for his siblings and cousins was matched by their love.

Cona was the king of the hill no matter which group of cousins he was with, no idea was ever a bad idea! From riding hell bent down the hill with someone in the bike trailer, jumping from the deck to the trampoline, organizing wrestling or kick boxing tournaments and the bigger the jump on the sledding hill the better! Always the ringleader but he cared for and would protect every one of them. They all followed him and looked at him with love and admiration. It was a celebration in itself to know he was coming over for the weekend, next trip or family event.

He loved the outdoors from spending time at his beloved nana and papa’s cottage to camping all over Ontario. Cona loved biking, hiking, exploring, swimming and being on the water. Catching snakes, frogs, turtles, lizards and minnows, his true love was fishing. Every cast his eyes lit up like this was going to be the big one! He would fish all day from sunup to sundown.

Nocona was intellectual and very inquisitive…maybe too inquisitive when he was little! If a subject grabbed his curiosity he was all over it, absorbing it and trying to learn more. He had many interests over broad horizons, he loved learning over the internet and was happy to share his findings. To be honest this world never made sense to Nocona, he would never be at ease on this world and I know he will find peace on his journey.

Nocona was handsome… I think he knew it, as he always had the raised eyebrow and sly smile! Cona was charming, kind, thoughtful, caring, sincere and witty with a great sense of humour. He really did love to laugh, always saw humour in everything. Cona was a hardworking kid who always figured out things during the process. He was strong and he made all sports look easy.

Our son was so much more than someone battling an addiction and he will be remembered as such. Nocona’s friends have told me that he was always very caring and always worried about others before himself. Nocona would tell you to reach out and just say 'I love you.' To not be afraid to contact a loved one, a friend, a friend of a friend and ask the tough questions. To never be afraid to wear your heart on your sleeve and to check on someone at any time of day or night. To say a quick hello and say I care about you, I hope you are well. Cona was a spiritual person, positive and always aware of others.

Nocona had hopes and dreams and true to his nature he wanted to help others. He dreamed of being a motivational speaker to help others move forward in life. He said he had an amazing story to tell and we believe him. Cona wanted to pursue mountain biking this year, purchase a fishing kayak and we were going to open a small business one day. He was excited about the prospect of running it as a family and passing it down to the kids. I wanted a pizza parlour and he wanted a pawn shop. He said he could wheel and deal like nobody else or as the old expression goes, “sell ice cream in Alaska!”

Nocona will be sadly missed by his mom Jennifer June Stewart, his siblings Gracie and Wesley. Beloved nana and papa Edward and June Stewart, aunts and uncle, Jill Harrington (Paul), Hugh Stewart (Wendy), Lynn Stewart, April Stewart, his cousins Hayden, Darby, Emily, Meagan, Sarah, Marley, Amy, Joni, Robyn and Coulson. Special mention to Brandi who he shared love with. Sadly missed by his dad Beauregard Izaak Elkin (Daisy), his siblings Dakota and Raven.

Grandparents Robert and Connie Elkin, Vovo Joao and Leia, predeceased by aunts Margaret Elkin, Christine Elkin, Janna Major, uncle Jack Porto and kokum Rosabelle Major. Aunts and uncles Jamie Elkin (Jennifer), Maria Elkin, Katie Elkin, Lorraine Major, Andrew Major (Alysia), Lana Major, Bernice Major, John Eiras (Beata), Margaret Dias (Mathews), Robert Eiras (Carmela), Edward Eiras (Connie). Cousins Noah, Abraham, TJ Elkin, Trevor (Shanti), Jocelyn, Jessica, Freedom, Talynn, Kayson, Shawn (Rachael), Stacey (Nicole), Amelia, Sloan, Maverick, Melissa, Brendan, Andyn, Cassidy, Mark, Franklin (Mary), Isaac, Zane, Jordan, TJ Major, Karleigh, Jonah, Novah, Stanley, Kevin, Marcelo, Meagan, Johnny (Rafa), Nayomi, Joao, Dudu, Isabel, Braydon, Dylan, Shayla, Jalen.

Arrangements entrusted with Taylor funeral home, Newmarket. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice that supports youth at risk, mental health and addictions.
