Ifill GretaIFILL, Greta Viola - Greta Viola Ifill of Toronto, Ontario passed away peacefully at St. Michael's Hospital, on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at age 81.

Greta, born in Georgetown, Guyana on August 2,1939, was predeceased by her dear mother, Verna Ifill.

Greta was the beloved mother of Gregory, Sandra and the late Sharon Williams; devoted sister to Michael, Sheila, Joycelyn (Charles) and the late Dick Ifill.

She was the loving and devoted grandmother of Anthony (Ashley), the aunt of nine nieces and nephews (Donna, Mark, Marcia, Michael, Melissa, Charles Jr., Abigail, Keane, Deidre and their spouses) and adopted grandmother to Caleb, Noah and Luke; great grand-aunt to Temu, Shayne, Shaquille and Maya and beloved cousin to Jean Seaforth, Norma Weithers, Ronald Ifill (Dale) June-Ann Neblett and many others.

Greta boldly emigrated from Guyana to Toronto, Canada in 1969, paving the way for many others to build a better life. Starting as a domestic worker, she put herself through school at George Brown College and eventually joined CIBC where she spent 27 years working in the Visa department. Greta found joy in entertaining and was an excellent cook.

She was truly the matriarch and the heart of the family, welcoming many warmly into her home. A woman who stayed abreast of current events, Greta was an avid basketball fan, especially the Toronto Raptors.

Greta imparted years of wisdom and had a wry sense of humor. She is deeply loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Greta is resting at Ogden Funeral Home, Scarborough, Ontario. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, visitation and in person attendance are restricted. Details are available with the funeral home website. Greta’s interment will be held in Georgetown, Guyana, South America.
